Circuit Train Your Day: Time Management Hacks
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
How you prioritize the events in your day determines which parts of your career develop and which ones atrophy.
Always begin your day by directing it with a clear intention. Then move into communication and high concentration tasks so they get done and don't drain your energy.
Make time for networking and professional development. These activities are your launch pad to the people and skill sets needed to move you towards your dream career.
Take lunch and breaks to rest and recharge. Remember that rest comes in many forms from breathing exercises to creative or social stimulation.
Interactive work and meetings are most ideally scheduled for after lunch, to boost energy at the point in the day it's most likely to lull.
Even if your daily circuit is interrupted by other meetings or events, honor the fact that each of these items still requires attention. Always make time for the high priority career advancing activities.

Are You a Politician or a Freedom Fighter?
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Are you resigned to slogging through the system? Is that impactful career you always wanted still in the distant future? Listen in to learn ways to stop the efforting and start getting results.
Politicians operate within the system. They are lack based and negotiate to minimize risk and loss.
The freedom fighter values the liberation of total integrity. They are not at war with any part of themselves.
By choosing freedom, you can proactively life your best life instead of relying on others to make you happy (which ain't gonna ever happen).
The constrained life is not a creative life. Therefore, you will never see the opportunities, only the risk.
If you are experiencing contrast and it's making you uncomfortable, know in that moment you can choose to reframe.

Break the Bias: Celebrating International Women’s Day
Monday Mar 07, 2022
Monday Mar 07, 2022
Bias comes in many forms, including our own expectations for ourselves or ways we limit ourselves because of how we think others will perceive us. In this episode, three women share how they challenged common beliefs and are claiming the careers they want on their terms.
If you expect to be seen or treated a certain way, it influences your own behavior. Instead, enter situations looking to be treated fairly and with respect.
When you experience some challenges, don't let them trigger you. Staying confident in your abilities and demonstrating them will win others over.
Don't ignore that call inside of you. Every day is your starting line, no matter what you are doing today, how old you are or what other life circumstances you face.
When you are committed to your success, you will overcome all odds.
Make bold moves, even if they are messy. Embrace failure and learn from it.
Other people need to see you fail and move on- it models for them that confidence comes from trying.
Find mentors who will lift you up and challenge you to stretch beyond what you think is possible for yourself.

Blue Urbanism with Architects as Healers: Buildings as Medicine
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
You might have heard of Clubhouse, the social audio app. In this episode, you get to listen in to the Architecting Club's Architects as Healers: Buildings as Medicine weekly room as we talk Blue Urbanism.
What if we could look at the components of Blue Zones and reconstruct them in modern urban environments?
To create healthy urban spaces, you need to understand the exposome: a combination of social determinants to health and physical environmental conditions.
Blue Urbanism includes clean air, access to nature, quiet, dark skies at night, safe water and healthy food, and opportunities to form broad social networks using active design.
Midscapes are a great way to create access to nature while providing shelter from the elements to lower carbon footprints and create more pedestrian access.
You can actively promote blue urbanism in your community even if you aren't an urban design expert. Activism means buildign awareness, not being an expert.
Join us each week as we host guest experts on topics related to how the built environment can enhance wellness.

There Is No Later
Monday Feb 28, 2022
Monday Feb 28, 2022
Your career is no longer a separate compartment of your life. You can allow work to encroach, or design a lifestyle integrated with you as a whole happy, healthy person. The life you want (or don't) is unfolding with each choice you make right now- listen in to learn how to uplevel.
Put intentionality behind everything you do. There are no small decisions and when you are in a state of being present, you can more often take aligned action.
Get into thrive vs. survive mode. Doing a bunch of chore-based work can feel rewarding in the moment, but isn't moving you forward to being your best self.
Hit reset on everyday tasks and work processes. Ask if each one is the best use of your time. Think of ways to delegate, eliminate or retool. If there's no energy behind something, it's time to stop doing it that way- or at all.
Stop hiding behind your habits. When you keep doing what you know works, it feels safe. However, it also makes your life stagnant. Where can you be bolder?
Examine big S vs. little s success. Many times those small wins add up and feel good enough. Take a look at the opportunity cost of doing this and how it's keeping you from living a joy and purpose filled life you were meant to live.

How to Stop Your Career From Fading to Beige
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
The stress and trauma of everyday life can be a lot to deal with. Listen in for tips on reawakening and revitalizing your life and career. Lets start celebrating everyday wins and get excited about what's possible.
Stress is a reaction to outside stimuli- it is not caused by them
Chronic stress physically makes us sick- it also develops a trauma response in our brain. This strengthens neural pathways around fear, allowing them to become dominant, like an overgrown hedge. At the same time, healthier neural pathways atrophy.
Being in a state of trauma causes us to numb out- not just to negative emotions, but positive ones as well.
Celebrate the wins to anchor in positive emotions. Rebuilding and strengthening these thought habits lets us believe in what's possible instead of seeing limitations.
Be a screen, not a wall so that your energy isn't wasted on resisting what you cannot control.

Stand Up to Lift Up
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Are you on lots of bandwagons, but never driving? In this episode, we explore why we fear standing out. Being an advocate doesn't mean you are held to a standard of perfection, it means you care about showing others a better way forward.
The reason to take a stand is not to have zero tolerance for failure, it's to aspire to and inspire better outcomes.
Self-righteousness is not advocacy, it's a form of judgement.
Predictability is the opposite of creativity. Stop playing it safe by blending into the collective consciousness.
Every time you play small and aim to stay within expectations, you cheat the world out of your potential and the innovation it could bring.

Let me guess: you're hiring. You're probably also willing to do just about anything to keep the staff you have. In this ask me anything episode, I respond to an audience question about what it takes to keep staff engaged and motivated, while also keeping a high performance bar.
Provide a nurturing work environment that emphasizes flexibility, staff visibility and opportunities to grow.
It's about the work you do, not just the work environment. Emphasize meaningful work that aligns with each person's personal development goals.
Focus not just on diversity and inclusion, but on equitable decision making.
Equity extends to fair assessment of performance. It's not fair to the other staff to gloss over poor work habits or skill gaps. Build in ways to measure growth and learn from failures.
Appreciate the small wins and achievements and help your staff see the connection back to their personal goals.

Love Your Life, Love Your Work
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Let's talk about love; how it's about releasing judgement about others- and yourself. In particular, let's talk about how lack of love interprets confidence as arrogance, assertiveness as aggression and makes self-care selfish. It's time to abandon the negative beliefs that keep us focused on limitation, lack, doubt and fear and step into the expansiveness that's possible in our life and career.
Always be clear on your motivations. Standing behind your expertise and a well researched solution is being confident in your ability to make a difference. Looking for the "ta-da" moment is arrogance.
Assertiveness is a form of advocacy. Staying quiet or passively taking instruction doesn't lead to an honest conversation or aid the co-creation process.
Self-care and maintaining clear boundaries is the opposite of selfish. Doing things for approval and acceptance comes from childish thinking. Adults stand in their power and claim the resources they need to be their best selves, knowing that from that place, they can have the greatest positive impact on others.
Love yourself by taking responsibility for yourself and love others by releasing the need to be responsible for them.

Leadership Essentials: Interview with Sarah Francescutti
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Leadership is about way more than your job description. In today's episode, Executive Leadership Coach Sarah Francescutti gives you the low down on acting up (for the role you want).
No more back room behavior like having a bad attitude, gossiping or complaining.
Reverse engineer your career path. Be proactive in seeking the training or skills you need and invest in yourself.
Expand your capacity to receive opportunities. You need to build up experiences and wisdom to lead with empathy and effectiveness.
Technical expertise is no substitute for people skills.
Leadership can be lopsided. Because no one is good at everything, focus on building up your strengths and working with others who have skills to offset your weaknesses.
Authenticity trumps all. People respond to the real you not a polished "shell" person with whom they cannot relate.
