Deconstructing Process: How to Navigate the Hybrid Workplace
Monday May 30, 2022
Monday May 30, 2022
Let's get philosophical- what does it mean to be present? How do you collaborate and lead when not everyone is in the room while leveraging the value of face to face interaction with those that are? How do we create an equitable collaborative experience? Why should we even bother going back to an office at all? This episode explores how we can retool old project processes for a hybrid work world.

Maintaining connectivity is your new superpower. You get there by being organized, flexible and able to develop skills in yourself and others.
Polished is so 2019. Do it messy is the new way it's done. How well can you improvise and authentically communicate?
Without our senses to provide cues about mood, approachability or availability to be interrupted, we have to consciously communicate boundaries to one another.
The way you did it doesn't work. But why you did it still might. Retool your processes to focus on what essential results you need, instead of making clunky virtual adaptations to the same old stuff.
Welcome to the wondrous world of asynchronous collaboration. Embrace it. There's gold in there.

Bye Bye Overwhelm: 5 Foolproof Strategies
Monday May 23, 2022
Monday May 23, 2022
Overwhelmed much? Working harder and harder to try and catch up only to feel further behind and more exhausted? This new normal is taking way too much of a toll. Listen in for my strategies to stop overwhelm in its tracks.

Pressure to perform without feeling you have any ability to change the circumstances is root cause of your overwhelm. Reexamine your own beliefs about what you have to commit to doing and how much effort you need to apply.
Getting it done doesn't make you a hero (even though you may become addicted to that rush of adrenaline). Stop to think about why this is important to you, instead of feeling obligated to meet expectations.
When you reframe the story, you can stop catastrophizing in the moment.
Say no to things you don't absolutely need or want to do. Exercise boundaries around your commitments to avoid overperforming. Delegate what you can. Reassign as many tasks as possible. Zoom out and identify the critical outcome needed. Throw any extra work overboard.

Monday May 16, 2022
Feeling resigned that your life and work are as good as they can get? I'm here to sound the alarm! The cost of that "good enough" life is one you can't afford. This episode will help you see the extravagant waste of resources (time, energy, money) living a status quo life really is.

Your dream life is possible if you are willing to commit to a continuous improvement process.
Raise your consciousness to what's possible instead of letting fears and limitations run the show.
When you create a strong center point of feeling great about your life, you attract high energy people and experiences into it.
Staying stuck comes with way too high a price.
Being in the present instead of limiting yourself by the past or worrying about the future.
You write the story of your life based on how you feel in every moment.
Energy comes from doing what you love.

”I’m Too Busy” is Code for ”That’s Not My Priority”
Thursday May 12, 2022
Thursday May 12, 2022
Everything you do sends a message. A message about your commitment to making an impact, ability to be agile, willingness to do more than what's in your job description. So while you're hiding behind your busyness, the unintended message you send to those around you is that being a leader isn't a priority for you.
Stop using your workload as an excuse to defer your personal development. Someday is not a date on the calendar- it's a can you keep kicking down the road.
Don't worry about how you'll get it all done. When you take on growth and development opportunities, you build your skill set so it's actually easier to get your other work done.
Next time you're about to bow out of an opportunity, substitute the reason for saying no for the words "that's not my priority." Feel into that and if it's true, then say no. But f it's not, find a way to make it happen.
Stop calibrating your career to minimum standards of performance. Instead, go for what's best practice. Ask yourself if someone who has a career you'd love to have would take on a growth opportunity like what you're being served up.
Never take opportunities for granted. If you commit, show up and be engaged.

Why You Need a Sponsor to Get Ahead
Monday May 09, 2022
Monday May 09, 2022
Feeling stalled out, passed over, invisible even? One of the root causes of the Great Resignation is not having an opportunity to do fulfilling work that grows your career. The antidote: something called sponsorship. Let's explore this strategy to grow leaders while encouraging diversity and inclusion at the top levels of organizations.
While mentorship is focused on growing specific skill sets, sponsorship is about strategic leadership development.
Sponsors are in leadership positions and willing to work with proteges to help close the gaps in their leadership abilities. That way, they are qualified for promotions.
Sponsors are willing to expend their political capital in the workplace to advocate for the advancement of their protege.
This strategy is mutually beneficial because it helps leadership to move beyond a "looks like me" bias.

You Are More Resilient Than You Think
Thursday May 05, 2022
Thursday May 05, 2022
We all have to protect our limited bandwidth these days. But are you giving your time away to things that don't accelerate your growth while saying no to the big stuff? In this episode, you'll learn how to tap into your resilience to live your best life.
You got a big win. Don't let that be your excuse to shut down even more opportunity. Seeing where you are as "enough" shuts down your potential.
Always say yes to aligned opportunities. Don't worry about how you will make it happen, the hows will work themselves out once you say yes.
Resiliency is really about having the resources to cope. To feed your resiliency, add more resources. Resources include time for rest and regenerative activities.
Appreciate the value of doing nothing. That pause is often the biggest something you could do.

Shift from Who You Should Be to Who You Can Be
Monday May 02, 2022
Monday May 02, 2022
Is your identity caught up in proving your worth? Have you gotten so good at meeting everyone else's needs that you've lost sight of what really would make you happy and fulfilled in life and work? This episode is for you! Let's find out what can happen once you're free of expectations and obligations.
Our identity is tied to what we believe is possible. This can come either from direct teaching or inferences made from life experiences. Either way, deeply rooted beliefs are formed.
External validation make us feel safe. This is why it's so important to seek approval and achieve.
Protector personas kick in to reinforce our beliefs in what is safe. These can lead to us sabotaging our success.
To break through and find your potential, you need to get centered. Try the breathing, journaling, and questioning exercises in this episode for quick relief.
Contact me at angela@architectingpodcast.com to schedule an inquiry session to find out if one on one coaching with me is right for you. Coaching is personalized to meet your needs and accelerates your career and personal growth.

How to Be Confident Without Seeming Arrogant
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Confidence isn't something you earn, it's something you are, It's taking action, taking risks and knowing that failure is learning. Let's discuss how to start pursuing your passions because you have sovereignty and how to let go of the need for external validation that's holding you back.
Confident people do what they feel called to do. Even when it's messy, even without all the tools and resources. Trust that you know what you know and you will learn what you need to learn. Face your fears and do it anyway.
Be confident now. Start noticing all the situations that you handle with assurance, even when things get challenging.
Appreciate even the smallest ways that you are confident and start noticing how you feel in your body in those moments. You can adopt those same physical traits in moments when you are less confident to cue yourself towards confidence.
Arrogance is a bullying persona adopted by people who don;t feel confident to shut down opposition by making others wrong. Confidence is curious, asks for help and fails forward.

Write Your Own Job Description: Interview with Christina Vernon Sanborn
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Monday Apr 25, 2022
We all dream of having a career we're passionate about. But so many people put themselves into a track and passively wait for opportunities to come. This episode explores the intrepid career path of someone who took a stand for making a difference and never stopped evolving.
Advocate for what you believe in. Even if it's not initially well received, keep going- you never know when your message will land with the right person.
View every "no" as a "not yet" and keep pursuing the way to get what you want accomplished.
There is a ripple effect that occurs when you inspire others to take action that will amplify your own work.
Everything is an equity issue- link what you are doing back to those who will be served by it.
No matter how much you achieve in your career, keep evolving. Never stop moving towards new opportunities.
Tell your story quantitatively. Facts are not subjective and help surface where there's work to be done.
No matter how great your message, if you don't connect with the people you want to help, it's like yelling into the wind.
