Release the Need to Overperform
Monday Dec 19, 2022
Monday Dec 19, 2022
Doing too much is a big sad. The amount of work you do isn't related to how well you are performing. The frazzle and overwhelm are a real joy killer. Listen in to learn three things you can do today to stop overperforming.
Overperforming comes from a need for external validation. Spend your time and energy strategically instead.
Make space for joy by evaluating which obligations are necessary and which one you can let go.
Be an advocate for your time and defend time to rest in any form.
Delegate or decline more things.
Consider what can be done together with a client or in your personal life instead of doing too much preparation.
Stay Inspired,
Angela

The Architecture of Sleep: Interview with Megan Mazzocco
Monday Dec 12, 2022
Monday Dec 12, 2022
Sleep is the #1 predictor of health outcomes, yet most of us don't get enough of it. Listen in to learn how to up the quality and amount of sleep you get each night to improve your physical and mental health, boost your creativity and increase longevity.
You need a minimum of 7 1/2 hours of sleep each night in order for your body and brain to detox and reset.
A 30 minute nap can be restorative
Sleep hygiene starts when you wake up each day. Exposure to daylight, movement, nutrition and a consistent nighttime ritual will improve the quality of your sleep.
A multi-sensory sleep ritual provides your body with multiple cues to wind down each night.

What Your Body Really Wants You to Know About Living Your Best Life
Thursday Dec 08, 2022
Thursday Dec 08, 2022
Ready to stop living from the neck up? In a hyper-vigilant state of endless thought loops? Listen to this excerpt from my Salutogenesis for Your Soul event and start integrating the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical parts of you for stressless success.
Our four bodies are interconnected. That's why it's so important to be attuned to how you physically feel instead of always trying to push through.
The stress response causes us to navigate the world from a state of fear.
Salutogenesis is a way to generate health by sending the physical body cues that it is safe and can relax. All five aspects (sense of coherence, self-efficacy, relaxation response, prospect and refuge and biophilia) are important to include in your lifestyle.
Salutogenesis resets the nervous system and allows the body to focus on regeneration and healing. This message then spreads to the other three bodies creating less stress and more clarity and well being.

Angela

The Art of Going For It: Interview with Tenille Bettenhausen
Monday Dec 05, 2022
Monday Dec 05, 2022
Want your life to have impact, but keep talking yourself back into the safety of your daily grind? Listen in as my guest Tenille Bettenhausen blows the doors off every lame excuse for not following your passions and taking action.
Your skill set as an architect is valuable inside and outside of the profession. Match your interests with the work you do instead of trying to find a match in a defined career path.
Do what you are passionate about and the clarity will come. Ask questions and explore options relentlessly.
Don't let being busy be the reason you don't take on creative projects.
When you do what brings you joy, you can't fail.
We need to see what's possible modeled for us- look for examples and always know you are being an example for others.
Take action no matter how small, because you never know where it will lead.
Stay Inspired,
Angela

Break Out of Second Thoughts Jail
Friday Dec 02, 2022
Friday Dec 02, 2022
What is your life was "yes, and..." more and "no, but..." a whole lot less? Imagine having a flash of inspiration that you fan into a flame instead of throwing cold water on it. That's the power of embracing the possibility of your first thought and breaking out of the limiting belief of those dastardly second thoughts.
Allow yourself to receive joy unconditionally and without limit
Trust that your first thought is always aligned with your purpose and soul led
What dreams can you bring out of the attic and unbox if you let go of your second thoughts?
Release your attachment to molding your career according to someone else's needs while neglecting your growth edge.
It's a false choice that you have to choose between what brings you joy and what will serve others. Look for what's possible and take a stand for the "and."

Angela

Unplug the Energy Vampires Draining Your Career
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Trying to do too much? Saying yes when you'd rather peace out? All those obligations are sucking away your energy. That doesn't leave much for pursuing the career you really want, not the one you think you have to have. Listen in to learn how to cut the power supply to your energy drains.
Find your passion to get clarity about what opportunities are aligned with you and which are not.
Find your energy leaks and unplug from them so your bandwidth isn't overloaded.
Your career has seasons. Sometimes, you need to give out a lot of energy, but sometimes you need to pull back and use your energy to regenerate yourself.
If some energy vampires feel hard to disconnect, ask "What if?" a different scenario could be possible.
Opportunities are neither good or bad- they are good or bad for you at the moment. Discern what is in alignment and don't feel obligated to say yes to anything else.

Angela

Anger Management: Interview with James Clemmons
Wednesday Nov 23, 2022
Wednesday Nov 23, 2022
Rather than cloaking anger in shame and blame, anger management expert James Clemmons shares strategies to unhook the fight or flight response, unpack what's really going on, and focus on what you can control.
Hear the entire 60 minute interview with James here.
Focus on what you can control - you.
Avoid situations that you know lead to you feeling angry.
Take time to decompress and do things that make you feel good.
Pay attention to how anger feels in your body. When you can recognize the signs of early onset, you can take steps to turn off the anger response sooner.
Be cautious of seeing a situation in "absolutes." Notice when you use triggered language like always, never, should, or must.

Angela

Finding Your Growth Edge
Monday Nov 14, 2022
Monday Nov 14, 2022
Your growth edge is kind of like cooking a meal. Use all four burners on the cooktop, or you'll get bored and stagnant from the one pot meal. But make every pot a challenging dish, and you'll burn out (literally). Listen in to learn how to balance a mix of easy and challenging, long and short projects to stay on the edge without going over.
Place yourself in situations and around people who will stretch you to think beyond the limits of what you thought was possible.
Make time to integrate new information and savor the wins.
Hold the space you need in your day to keep things on a pace that lets you be creative
If you are spending more time on busy work than growth opportunities, you're losing your creative edge.
Stay Inspired,
Angela

Getting Bad Advice? Maybe You’re Asking the Wrong Questions
Tuesday Nov 08, 2022
Tuesday Nov 08, 2022
Ever get advice that doesn't resonate- so you ask someone else, and someone else, and someone else? You're having this experience because you don't have clarity on what you really want, so you're only focusing on what's wrong. Fixing a problem with another person or situation is always an inside job first.
The feeling of conflict is a sign that there is an integrity gap between your experience and your authentic self.
Trying to get resolution to this conflict by asking for advice is like auditioning for a role you don’t want. No matter how good the advice, you won’t really want to take action because you don’t really feel aligned with the outcome.
Great advice might not be great advice for you. The truth has to come from you.
You can’t have a courageous conversation with someone unless you are first honest with yourself about why you feel conflicted.
Focusing on how you were wronged or what you want to change about someone else’s behavior creates more conflict and a duality instead of integrity.

Angela
