Is Your Job Default or Deliberate? Find Work You Love Doing.

Thursday Oct 03, 2024
Stop being the pick me person. You know, the one who tries way to hard but still doesn't get the payoff. In this episode, you'll get the downlow on how to focus on what you want to be known for.
There are no accidents. Your fear of success is the only thing blocking you from opportunities.
Focusing on what you want to be known for is way different than ambition. It's your differentiator, your personal brand, how you are inspired to make a difference.
Once you understand your brand, you can easily determine whether to say yes to an opportunity (even if it feels terrifyingly risky) or whether it's not the best use of your valuable time, talent and energy.
When you communicate your brand, others start to bring you opportunities for things you actually want to do.
Be clear about what you want, but open to the fact that it can look different that the way you thought it would. You will evolve as a person and your life circumstances will change, but your why will keep you consistently moving toward a life and job you love.
Nothing is ever wasted. Every aligned action is helping to build the foundation of the success you want.

Leverage Your Motivation Style
Monday Sep 23, 2024
Monday Sep 23, 2024
Have you been accepting the premise that success is only about meeting expectations, validation and obligations? If you want a career in different areas, listen to this episode to learn what's really behind success: motivation.
There are two types of motivation. Intrinsic motivation is all about the love of doing something while extrinsic is about earning a reward or avoiding a punishment.
Our culture is set up on an extrinsic system, trapping many people into a life where they are disconnected from their passions because they are too afraid of what they can lose if they don;t do what's expected.
We need both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to be successful on our own terms.
Learning your dominant motivation style and how to bring in your less dominant one when needed let's you live a balance life.

You're Not Meant for Mediocrity
Friday Sep 13, 2024
Friday Sep 13, 2024
Did you think shining bright was just about drawing attention to yourself? Let's change that channel right now. You have a purpose and when you live it unapologetically, the light you shine in service to others also lights up the career paths of other creatives who want to make a difference.
Normalize success, knowing that anything you leave behind is in exchange or something so much greater.
Fear of failure put a ceiling on your potential, keeping your light dim.
When will the discomfort of being where you are today outweigh the comfort of the familiar?
See how you can, not why you shouldn't

From Accomplice to Your Own Struggle to Advocate for Your Success and Well Being
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
*womp womp* You walked out of that meeting feeling about 3" tall. Before you slide into depression or get angry, think about how you were an accomplice to your own misery. Today I'm talking about how I learned not to get triggered by imagined or real bad actors. Listen in to hear how I stopped being an accomplice to other people and shifted to being an advocate for my own success.
Become better at listening and understanding others by being present, reading the room, having empathy and meeting others where they are.
Verify that your understanding of someone's communication is correct and not distorted by the bias of your own assumptions.
Mirror positivity: learn more by listening to Episode 108 Mirroring and Magnetism: Techniques for Positive Outcomes here https://architecting.podbean.com/e/mirroring/
You are an accomplice when you meet adversity with more adversity and multiply what you don't want.
You are an accomplice when your insecurities or limiting beliefs cause you to accept the premise of someone's criticism and define your worth.
You are an accomplice when your personal standards are low and make you available for poor treatment.
Positivity leads to possibilities. Be an advocate for yourself instead of an accomplice in feeling bad.

The 25% Rule to get You Through Even the Worst Day
Thursday Aug 29, 2024
Thursday Aug 29, 2024
Having a no good, terrible, very bad day? In this episode, I answer a question from a member of our Architecting community on how to have more good days and how to be more gentle with yourself on those less than good ones.
It's tempting to overgive on a bad day because you feel guilty, but that's the worst thing you can do because stress impacts your focus, cognitive ability, creativity and mood.
Reserve 25% of your energy for self care each day. On a low energy or stressful day it's even more important to be gentle with yourself.
Make a hard day easier by taking time to reset, prioritizing low key tasks that give you small wins and finding fun and enjoyable ways to keep momentum going like hand sketching or model building.
Build up resources you can leverage. Delegate more to others and build up their skill sets, know who you can ask for help, hire support for errands, childcare, or homekeeping.

Snag Your Dream Job Today
Wednesday Aug 21, 2024
Wednesday Aug 21, 2024
Does it seem like no one's hiring? Or that you can't find any good matches for your skill set? That's because skills only reflect competency, not value. Listen in for essential tips on magnetizing your dream job to you. Create the opportunity you want instead of chasing open listings and trying to conform to their descriptions.
Get clarity on your why. When you talk about your skills through the lens of what you are passionate about, you differentiate yourself and add value.
Show the receipts. Either share results from projects, or create mini exercises that pertain to your projects that let you apply your skills around issues you are passionate about and show what you learned.
Understand the pain points of the industry, your clients and the company you want to work with. Do your homework to target your search and show how you fit and what could be possible through working together..
Drive commitment by sharing your expectations as well as who else you are talking with.

Have You Settled for the First Available Career?
Friday Aug 16, 2024
Friday Aug 16, 2024
In these shaky economic times, it's really easy to want to stay in a job even when what you're doing might be blocking you from your true career path. In this episode, I'll help you rip off that security blanket and help you claim the opportunities you need to have an impactful vocation.
Playing it safe is actually waaaay more stressful than chasing your dreams. You are allowing your energy to be drained instead of charged.
Just because you are good at doing something, doesn't mean it fulfills you.
Be like water and find a way to get where you need to go- no matter what. Even small moves make a big difference over time.
Succeeding should feel normal, because you are meant to do this.
Surround yourself with resources and people that want to see you succeed, not ones who shame you for dreaming big.

Unblah With These Creative Rituals
Tuesday Aug 06, 2024
Tuesday Aug 06, 2024
In this ask me anything session, hear my response to a member of the Architecting Community who is feeling a little less than creative lately. Learn my top rituals to restore your creativity and keep it flowing.
Creativity ebbs and flow with your level of energy and inspiration. Don't expect a steady state or feel bad if you aren't always at max creativity.
Minimize creativity killers. Look at things that are draining your physical, emotional, spiritual and mental energy and think about how to rest and recover from the toll they take. Look at the root causes of the things that are creating stress in your life.
Cultivate a creativity ritual so that you can train yourself to feel more comfortable in creative flow.
Your unblah ritual starts with re-regulating your nervous system with meditation/movement. Follow that up with brain dump time where you journal, doodle or sketch.
Finish your ritual with DND creative time. Begin with 30 minutes and work your way up from there.

The Power of the Genius Group
Monday Jul 29, 2024
Monday Jul 29, 2024
When is spilling some tea more than just some idle gossip? When you connect on the regular with a group of people who believe in having and holding for others big visions about what's possible. Listen in to learn more about how a genius group can uplevel your career (and life).
Your life will match that of the people you spend the most time with. So surround yourself with those who make you feel inspired, can point you to resources, build your network and be a reliable sounding board when you're struggling.
The difference between people who make a difference and those who don't is a willingness to take action. Your genius group can help direct that action and keep you motivated.
Where you see obstacles, someone else sees a breakthrough. When you share your dreams with those who have already accomplished a lot, they seem a lot more doable than when you spend time with people who don't even understand why you want to evolve.

Harshing the Buzz: Why We Don't Celebrate the Wins
Friday Jul 26, 2024
Friday Jul 26, 2024
Oh yay- you accomplished something big! How fast can you stick a pin in that bubble to burst it? Collectively, we are so focused on what we haven't done (yet) that we forget to celebrate our wins and those of others. Here's why that's super bad to do.
Every accomplishment deserves to be celebrated. By recognizing what's special and savoring it, you uplevel your point of view and can see even more ways to change the world while living your best life.
Instead of worrying about whether you are worthy of a recognition, see it as a starting point not a destination. You now have agency to make an even greater impact.
Don't fall prey to future tripping where you minimize what you did today. People who always hinge their happiness on the condition of a what they haven't done instead of what they have are on a hella future trip where success is never achievable.
Make sure to clap up others for their wins. Help them see what's now possible instead of minimizing what they've done.
You're not the same person after a win- you're a better and stronger one. Never let anyone shame you into thinking that you have a big ego because you upleveled.
