- It's true: we are working evenings to make up for unproductive days. Stress levels are at an all time high. It just isn't sustainable to be constantly interrupted.
- Use your calendar as your to-do list. Block in time to work on each of your projects or initiatives and unapologetically decline any meeting requests that don't honor this time block.
- Be clear about your boundaries and what hours you are available to work. It helps nothing for you to stew over all the ways your calendar isn't being respected. Instead, be clear upfront about the time you can commit- including whether you are available for early mornings, late nights and weekends.
- Tell your team how much total time you can work on the project each week. It will help them to manage their own time more efficiently if they know they only have limited access to yours.
- People pleasing isn't healthy. Burned out you is being damaged physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally.
- Your creativity is your most valuable asset. It's literally on the line when you run out of bandwidth.
