Trying to office and conference at the same time is a huge #workfail. Instead of micromanaging the day to day, trust your team to handle things in your absence. Then go network and knowledge harvest like it's your job,
- Multitasking splits your attention and triggers a major stress responses that's a conference-goer buzzkill
- Technology is you frenemy if you make yourself available for microinterruptions.
- FOMO about the projects you're working on is really about your own need to feel needed and signals to your team that you don't really trust them.
- Conference attendance is real work. It deserves your full attention.
- Being on call and not setting boundaries with your staff isn't heroic- it's a leadership failure.
- Conferences are a form of regeneration and bring you fresh perspective to apply on your current and future projects
- Networking is as valuable as the knowledge gained, so don;t opt out of social opportunities or spend so much time on your phone you ignore the people IRL who could turn into powerful contacts.
Stay Inspired,
Angela
