Does the thought of making small talk make you break out in hives? Does your mind blank when you have to give an elevator pitch? Make these moments a thing of the past by incorporating storytelling strategies. When you give yourself a role, it all gets easier. My guest Lee Schneider shares his top strategies to make memorable and authentic connections.
- People remember stories more than facts, they build connection and establish, belonging, authority and trust. Talking about what matters to you makes it matter to others because they resonate with your why.
- Use your why to develop your archetypal character. Include your clients as the plot unfolds so they feel like part of the story.
- Always have a goal and a role to play in every encounter. Use this to build a story, read the room and let your clients see how you can help them unlock their ideas.
- Begin with a bold statement and then provide proof as the payoff for listening.
- Narratives are not always word based- think about how you can show themes and the ability to lead someone through an experience in the built environment.
