Having a no good, terrible, very bad day? In this episode, I answer a question from a member of our Architecting community on how to have more good days and how to be more gentle with yourself on those less than good ones.
- It's tempting to overgive on a bad day because you feel guilty, but that's the worst thing you can do because stress impacts your focus, cognitive ability, creativity and mood.
- Reserve 25% of your energy for self care each day. On a low energy or stressful day it's even more important to be gentle with yourself.
- Make a hard day easier by taking time to reset, prioritizing low key tasks that give you small wins and finding fun and enjoyable ways to keep momentum going like hand sketching or model building.
- Build up resources you can leverage. Delegate more to others and build up their skill sets, know who you can ask for help, hire support for errands, childcare, or homekeeping.
